letters to the editor

Mother’s Day drawing commendable

I just want to commend you on the publishing of all the pictures of mothers from the primary school[s].

I know how much that means to the children and their mothers.

A new chapter of my life began in [Farragut] in 1997. The school community, with my daughter entering kindergarten at [Farragut] Primary School, was a large part of that beginning.

She is graduating this year from Farragut High School with a scholarship to Auburn University.

Thank you for promoting and supporting all the school activities; after all, the children are our future.

Shoplifters’ names, faces

should be posted

I thoroughly appreciate Knox County Sheriff’s Office making the “cops” data available to the public via farragutpress.

However, it appears as if one of our better Farragut businesses is constantly under attack by the criminal element. I am addressing the weekly multitude of shoplifting events reported at our local Kohl’s department store.

Surely something more effective at deterring this activity than a misdemeanor citation can be found as the volume of citations reported would indicate many “repeat” offenders.

I enjoy shopping at Kohl’s but I do not wish to absorb the cost of [its] theft losses, which they must pass on to the customer.

Perhaps some “names and faces” would be helpful in convincing these individuals to take their “trade” elsewhere as the frequent violations can only be sending the wrong message to our children.
