• Knoxville Figure Skating Club showed up in Nashville, 31 strong, for the 2010 Skate Nashville competition the weekend of April 23-26 and took home the gold. Emma Black (Intermediate, coach Constantine Baradakov) and Melin Craze (Novice, coach Sue Jackson-Wagner) led the charge with first place in two events each. Both girls are rising veteran members of KFSC with more than five years of skating experience. Emma won her short program by an eight-point margin with her technical score of 29.43 and won by almost four points in her free skate. First place skaters, ranging in age from 5 to 16, also included Lara Cherry, Gabrielle Fizman, Micah Foster, Katie Haremski, Perri-Hann Mafouz, Emma Phillips, Samantha Rey, Charlotte Rogers and Alia Smith.

• The 33rd Annual Tennessee Sports Medicine EXPO 10K/5K will take place at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 29, at the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum. Both the 10K and 5K will start is 8 a.m. for all runners and walkers. Pre-registration is open until May 15. Cost is $20 for runners. Late registration fee is $25. • Town of Farragut Parks and Leisure Services Department announces only two team spots remain for Spring Kickball Tournament scheduled for Sunday, June 6, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road. Play will begin at 1 p.m. Open to participants 13 years of age and older, the tournament will consist of coed teams with eight to 10 players each, and each team will be guaranteed to play four games. Registration ends Tuesday, June 1, or until first eight teams are registered. Cost is $50 per team, which includes lunch for each player.
