Spartans tennis teams roll to state titles; CAK boys win A/AA

Webb School of Knoxville Tennis stormed into Murfreesboro and came away with two team state titles and three individual or doubles TSSAA state crowns.

Meanwhile, Christian Academy of Knoxville’s boys also grabbed state tennis honors, countering the Spartans Division II-A success with a Class A-AA team title.

The Lady Spartans blanked University School of Jackson in the semis, 4-0, then did the same against St. Andrews-Sewanee in the finals led by doubles champs Vicki Garcia and Jenni Haydek and state doubles runners-up Jeannine Bell and Jolie Spiegelman.

Led by singles state champ Brandon Fickey and doubles titlest Trey Hatcher and Harrison Smith, Webb's boys blanked Franklin Road Academy in the semis, then University School of Nashville.

The Warriors, behind the success of Class A-AA state doubles champs Will Sparks and Cameron Dickerson, went 8-0 in combined matches with shutout wins versus David Lipscomb in the semifinals and Notre Dame in the finals.
