Gill earns $2,000 tourney scholarship

A field of 200 golfers turned out for the 4th Annual Channon Gail Christian Memorial Tournament at Farragut’s Willow Creek Golf Course Sunday afternoon, June 6.

That included Richard Cox of Farragut, left, who is pictured teeing off at No. 17.

The 18-hole, four-person scramble format tourney — withstanding a heavy mid-afternoon thundershower— also featured the granting of a $2,000 scholarship to Farragut High School student Emma Gill, Class of 2010, who will attend The University of Tennessee this fall.

The tourney is dedicated to the memory of Channon, who along with Christopher Newsom was brutally murdered in 2007 in a highly publicized case.
