Noland taking diamond skills to Volunteer State

Tyler Noland, a two-year starting outfielder for state champion Farragut High School Baseball, signed with Volunteer State Community College, Gallatin, during a May 13 ceremony in FHS Commons.

“I think it’s a really good program,” said Noland, 18, adding he sported a 4.1 grade point average.

Matt Buckner, FHS head coach, said Noland “is a great defender, a superb athlete. Really fast runner, plus his arm.”

At the plate, Noland hit for a .313 average, 7 home runs, through mid-May.
