Purty to run in Iowa

DeAndre Purty, Farragut High School All-state running back who gained 2,626 yards and scored 27 touchdowns in two seasons, signed with Ellsworth Community College, Iowa City, Iowa, during a May 18 ceremony in the FHS Commons. I want to go out there and try something new, to get out of state and experience the world, Purty said about his decision. My ultimate goal is a four-year school. Im trying to get back down here to, like, the SEC. Eddie Courtney, FHS head coach, said Purty is a very gifted football player who has dedicated himself to make the most of his ability. Seated alongside Purty, 18, are his aunt and uncle, Jacey Ahrenholtz and Anthony Williams. Standing, from left, are Patrick Cox, former FHS assistant coach now as assistant at Ellsworth; FHS offensive coordinator David Sweetland; Courtney and FHS running backs coach Ryan Shoupe.
