Strong show, though wet, for FHS track-field boys co-hosting Secret Safe Place Invitational

Four first-place finishes from Farragut High School’s varsity boys track and field team, among a 25-team, multi-state field, came as the FHS teams hosted Secret Safe Place Invitational at Bill Parker Track/Eddie Courtney Stadium on Friday and a rainy Saturday, April 7-8. In the boys’ 3200-meter and pole vault, the Admirals swept the top three places: senior Trevor Coggin was 3200 champ (9:15.05) followed in razor-close runner-up fashion by junior teammate Matteo Tonnos (9:15.36), while FHS junior Braden Ebbert was a close third (9:16.48).

Pole vault champ Julian Gorfido, a junior, went 11-feet-0, with Admirals teammate Ryan Marasigan, a junior, second (9-foot-0) and sophomore Adam Richards third (8-foot-6). Other Farragut champs were senior Tyson Jackson in discus (154-feet-10), while sophomore Bryce Thompson finished first in shot put (55-feet-2.50). Other top three Admirals boys finishes were junior Troy Lockhart, second in 200 dash; junior Harrison Cunningham (No. 5 above, two places ahead of teammate Riley Hanson, No. 3) finishing second in the 800 run; 4 X 400 relay, FHS third; sprint medley relay, Farragut third; distance medley relay, FHS second; Thompson was third in discus while Jackson placed third in shot put. Top three FHS girls finishers were sophomore Reagan Estes, third in 400 run; 4 X 800 relay, Lady Ads third; distance medley relay, FHS second; high jump, senior Callie Lefler second, freshman Jillian Hurley third; and triple jump, senior Emma Miller second.
