Ruby Tuesday to convert eatery

Ruby Tuesday has closed its location at 319 Lovell Road, but plans to reopen the restaurant in September — as a Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q.

The restaurant closed the second week of July, Ruby Tuesday spokeswoman Meredith Ham-mond confirmed.

“It’s slated to open as a Jim ’N Nick’s in late September,” she said.

“We have an agreement with Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q to operate that location. … It will be operated by Ruby Tuesday,” she added.

The Lovell Road transformation is the first of several changes Ruby Tuesday plans in its Maryville-based chain.

Six other underperforming stores will be changed to Jim ’N Nick’s or to Truffles, a higher-end dining concept, over the next three years. Ruby Tuesday already owns the Wok Hay concept.

According to Jim ’N Nick’s Web site, “Every Jim ’N Nick’s is locally owned. There are four other Jim ’N Nick’s locations in Tennessee — Murfreesboro, Nashville, Smyrna and Memphis.

Most Jim ’N Nick’s locations offer catering and to-go options, as well as dine-in.

Samples from menus include various forms of barbecue, including ribs and sandwiches, salads, steak, hamburgers, chicken and catfish.

The Web site states, “From our pork shoulders that are smoked for over 14 hours to our flour and rolling pin fresh pies, everything is done the authentic way.”

According to Hammond, other details about the Lovell Road restaurant would be forthcoming.
