• Inaugural Knoxville Free to Breathe 5K Run/1 Mile Walk begins at 8:15 a.m. (walk) and 8:30 a.m. (run) Saturday, Oct. 16, in Village Green Subdivision, Jamestowne Boulevard. • Chris Groer, tennis singles state champion at Farragut High School in 1991 and ’92 and former Academic All-American player at Vanderbilt University who played professionally for three years, has been chosen for induction into Vandy’s sports hall of fame. Ceremony is Friday, Sept. 3.

• Farragut Middle School Girls Soccer will hold tryouts for sixth- and seventh-graders from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and for eighth-graders from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Farragut Christian Church. • Beginning this fall, Farragut Baseball, Inc. announces Mickey Mantle and Connie Mack leagues will return again.
