Town ‘Picnic’ seeks vendors

Picnic on the Pike planners are looking for restaurant and craft vendors and will accept applications until Friday, Aug. 27.

Picnic on the Pike is planned from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, on farragutpress grounds, 11863 Kingston Pike.

“So far, we have four restaurants and three of those are pizza places,” Town Parks and Leisure Services Director Sue Stuhl said.

“We have six crafters so far,” she added.

Other businesses that wish to set up tables or booths may do so, but will be charged $50. Those businesses also must be located within Town limits.

Other non-profit groups (such as churches, civic clubs or sports teams) can run children’s games and collect proceeds from those games as their own fundraising.

“We’ll sell the tickets and they’ll get all the proceeds from it … we hope groups do that. It’s a great way to get their name out, and they might make some money,” Stuhl said.

“There’s no charge for them to do that, and we’ll handle all the money so they don’t have to do that. But they do need to bring everything: their tables and tents and whatever they want,” she added.

The Town will have four inflatables set up, which children can play on free of charge.

General admission is free; attendees will directly pay food and drink vendors, or can bring their own food.

Ingles market will provide a 30th anniversary cake for the Town, and that will be served to attendees for free.

Picnic on the Pike will feature two main bands: The Atomic Horns and Slim Pickin’s. In between the two groups’ performances, local bands and dance troupes will perform.

“You can buy food or bring your own food, partake in some of the activities and help the local nonprofits at the same time,” Stuhl said.

For a vendor application, visit Farragut’s Web site, www.townoffarragut.org; applications are under the “Events” tab.

For more information, call Anne LaGrow or Arleen Higginbotham at Town Hall, 865-966-7057 or visit www.townoffarragut.org
