Champs crowned in Competitive, Intermediate, Recreation leagues

Wade’s Never Had Sets beat Dig This in town of Farragut’s Summer Sand Volleyball Competitive Tournament finals match Monday night, July 26, to cap the 2010 summer season at Mayor Bob Leonard Park.

Wade’s, No. 2 seed, defeated Arm & Hammer, regular season Competitive champs, in the tourney winners’ bracket final.

Competitive is one of three Town Sand Volleyball divisions, along with Intermediate and Recreation, that decided regular season and tourney champs this summer. (More on Intermediate and Recreation later in story).

Dig This came out of the loser’s bracket to eliminate Arm & Hammer and earn a tourney title shot.

Smack That defeated Dig This in first-round tourney action before Smack was eliminated in a revenge effort by Dig This.

Slackers won its first-round tourney match, beating Sir Ving.

Intermediate play found Unblockables, No. 1 in Silver Division during the regular season, standing tallest at the end of its tourney, beating Blue Division No. 1 Spikepath in the finals.

Block Party, No. 2 Silver seed, defeated Now Serving before being eliminated.

Believe The Hype, No. 2 Blue seed, beat Juice Junkies before falling to Blockheads.

Recreation League tourney action saw Sets on the Beach, No. 2 Blue Division seed, beat Sand Tigers, No. 2 Blue seed, in the finals.

Sandy Britches, No. 1 Silver seed as regular season champs, lost in the semifinals to Sets on the Beach after beating both Marvels and Margarita Time in the tourney.

Sand Tigers whipped Spike N Brightons in the semifinals.

Moose Knuckles, Blue Division regular season champ, managed one tournament win.
