Chamber elects Board of Directors

Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce has elected its Board of Directors for the 2010-11 year, including three new faces.

Carol Smith of Michael Brady Inc. and Debi Tuttle of the Town Framery and Mary Wilbourn Gallery each will serve a three-year term. Jim Detar, of Heritage Investors, was elected for a one-year term to fill a vacancy.

“They are the governing body of the Chamber,” FWKC president and CEO Bettye Sisco said.

“They’re wonderful and we couldn’t do without them. And we’re fortunate to have a good mix of people that represent the entire community,” she added.

“What Bettye has done in the years she has been there is very inspirational as far as the growth and retention of members, especially in these tougher economic times,” said Tuttle, who has been a member of the Chamber for six years, when she relocated to Farragut.

“Obviously, my goal would be to continue those relationships and build new ones.

“I want to assist Bettye in whatever way I can to help the Chamber grow and prosper,” she added.

Smith communicated similar goals.

“As a Chamber Board member, my goals are to support local business both personally and through my association with Michael Brady Inc.,” she said.

“MBI is engaged throughout the community with a large number of businesses. My hope is to bring ideas and enthusiasm that continue to attract businesses to the Chamber,” she added.

DeTar did not return phone calls immediately.

Returning to the Board are Vivian Akins of NHC Place Assisted Living; Don Ball of Business Machines Company of East Tennessee; Darla Berdal of Myers Bros. Holdings, Inc.; Richard Disharoon of Slate, Disharoon, Parrish & Associates, LLC; Les Fout of Pellissippi State Technical Community College; Keith Meese of The Prestige Group; Jody Myers of Exhibitor Source by Skyline; Jamie Nicely of Balanced Books & Payroll; Lonn Reas of TDS Telecom; Mike Such of Junk Bee Gone; Tonya Vest of FSG Bank and Tim Williams of Matlock Tire Service.

Board members serve three-year terms, and can serve two terms total.

An executive committtee of the Board meets monthly to go over issues that are later presented to the Board as a whole.

“Our Board of Directors is charged with developing and executing strategies to help the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce to be succesful in its operations and in its mission to promote business development, education and economic development,” Chamber executive assistant Angela Selvage said.
