Hampton Inn construction underway

Farragut will soon be getting a new hotel.

A four-story Hampton Inn & Suites is set to open in Turkey Creek off Campbell Lakes Drive next summer.

“This was an ideal location with the mixed use functions of the property,” said Paula MacDonald, a spokesman for McKibbon Hotel Group.

“The Hampton Inn & Suites is a very popular brand right now and they thought that would be a good combination,” she added.

The company already has broken ground on the hotel site, and construction is expected to begin this month.

The 60,475 square foot hotel will feature 105 rooms, including 31 suites.

“Both rooms and suites come in double queen bed or king bed configurations. Suites are a bit more spacious, featuring a wet bar area with microwave and refrigerator,” MacDonald said.

“Both room types do have desk and sitting areas,” she added.

Hampton Inn & Suites also will boast amenities including a fitness center, outdoor pool, outdoor fire pit and patio area and 660 square feet of meeting space.

McKibbon Hotel Group owns several other hotels in Turkey Creek, including SpringHIll Suites and Homewood Suites.

“This ideal mixed-use location, combined with the popularity of the Hampton brand, will help us to win continued success with the addition of this new West Knoxville hotel,” McKibbon president and CEO Vann Herring said in a press release.

“Our hotels in the Turkey Creek development have maintained a steady share of the market over the last 12 months,” he added.

Farragut Community Develop-ment Director Ruth Hawk commended hotel architects for their design at a meeting last year.

“They’ve done a great job with optimizing your options” for vehicle and pedestrian traffic, she said.

The hotel entrances and exits will connect drivers and pedestrians to Campbell Lakes and to Stations West drives, as well as to adjacent shopping centers fronting Parkside Drive.

Hampton Inn & Suites is slated to open in summer 2011 at 11340 Campbell Lakes Drive.

G. W. Wyatt Contracting, LLC of Jefferson City will conduct all phase one site preparation, and Kellogg & Kimsey, Inc. of Sarasota, Fla., is the general contractor.
