Blance duo leads Webb rout

Last seen on a football field, the Webb Spartans were holding the Division II-A State Championship Trophy.

They hope to reprise that triumphant moment in 2010.

“Really we just want to win again, we want to win another state championship, and become the first team at Webb to win back-to-back state championships, it would mean a lot to this program,” Webb lineman Jay Werner said.

The Spartans took the first step toward that goal Friday by beating Central 35-6 at Webb’s newly renovated Faust Field.

The terrific brothers tandem of Caleb and Aaron Blance combined for an astounding 355 total yards and three touchdowns — Aaron scoring on a 66-yard run and Caleb reaching the end zone on runs of 53 and 52 yards.

Spartans quarterback Parker Wormsley got a chance to show of his arm, as the senior hit Brennan Liu for a 24-yard touchdown pass. “We are used to winning now, since last year we got used to winning, and now we just come out here and compete,” Wormsley said.
