• Grab Your Dog And Bark For Life, 3-6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, at PetSafe Dog Park in the Tommy Schumpert Park located on Fountain City Drive. The second annual Bark for Life is a special event for dogs and their human companions. Registration fee is $20 per dog/human team and includes a bandana for the dog and a T-shirt for the companion. • Red Cross to hold Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course. The course includes training on head, neck and spinal injuries; heat-related emergencies; hypothermia; altitude-related illnesses; allergies and anaphylaxis; burns; bone and joint injuries; wounds and wound infection. The course also offers enhanced content and topics to meet OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs — particularly important for occupational environments that are impacted by federal regulations. • Pellissippi State introduces online “Nonprofit Fundraising Essentials” course offered by
Pellissippi State Community College’s Business and Community Services, which has partnered with ed2go to offer hundreds of online, instructor-facilitated courses. In the course, participants will learn the basics of fundraising for nonprofit organizations, from annual and special fund drives to more advanced projects involving corporate and foundation relations, major gifts, and planned giving. New sessions of each course run every month. lasting six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12). • March of Dimes Signature Drink challenge is hosting a Cocktails For A Cause from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17. Vote for the best alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails as created by Knoxville’s best bartenders. The winning drinks will be named the signature drinks for the 20th Annual Signature Chefs Auction in November. The event will be held at AMS Technology Center, 9119 Cross Park Drive. • The Mabry-Hazen House will host its annual Boomsday, Bluegrass and Barbeque Celebration Sunday, Sept. 5. Guests will enjoy a view of Knoxville’s premiere fireworks show, good food and live music. Tours of the historic home begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7:30. Alcohol is BYOB. Tickets are $50 per adult and children under 18 are free when accompanied by a ticket holder.
