Lineup takes shape for Taste of Farragut Sept. 10

Restaurants are lining up to participate in Taste of Farragut.

Aubrey’s restaurant, Border Taco, Captain Ernie’s, Cookies by Design, Hibachi Factory, Kroger Marketplace Bistro, Meksiko Cantina, Newk’s Express Café, New York Avenue Pizza, Oskie’s Sports Bar and Grill, Seasons Café, Shrimp Dock, Snappy Tomato, Tastefully Simple, VG’s Bakery and Webster’s Deli have signed up.

“We’re [a] week away. … The buzz is pretty big about this,” event planner David Purvis said.

“This is about the personalized tastes of Farragut,” he added.

Taste of Farragut highlights the many food establishments in Town limits, and will feature wine distributors who pair different wines with the foods. Silo Cigars also will have a booth at the event.

“The goal is not to feed everyone a whole meal on a plate — it’s tastings. We’ll have a lot of restaurants there,” Purvis said.

The restaurants will serve dishes as varied as seafood paella, beef nachos, Cuban sandwiches, buffalo wings, smoked duck with brie cheese grits, Italian beef sandwiches, shrimp boil, chicken salad sandwiches and gourmet cookies and dessert bars.

Taste of Farragut will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, in the old Kroger parking lot off Kingston Pike, with a rain date from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12.

Admission ticket prices at the gate are $25 for adults (including food and drink), $20 for adults (food only), $10 for children 12 and under, and children 6 and under are free. Discount pre-event tickets are available by calling farragutpress at 675-6397.

The Farragut Business Alliance, which is planning the event, will provide seating for about 200 guests at round tables, plus high-top tables for those who can stand.

“We may be making it nicer by providing more seating,” Purvis said.

The planners of Taste of Farragut are seeking additional food vendors from any food retail or restaurant establishment in Farragut.

Any food vendors in Farragut are welcome to participate. There is no cost to participate, but vendors are asked to donate food for the event, and a 10-by-10 foot tent will be provided to each vendor.

Some electricity will be available if a vendor requires it.

Vendors can apply to Purvis, 865-599-1817, or Phil Dangle, 865-384-8666. Space is limited; apply quickly.

More than 400 people attended last year’s inaugural Taste of Farragut, and event planners are hoping for double that number this year.

“We could probably get 800 people, maybe more,” Purvis said.

i105.3 WFIV will have a live remote from the event, along with possible live music, and farragutpress is the media sponsor.

“I think live music would be great,” Robin Purvis said.

Town of Farragut and Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce are event sponsors.

The event proceeds will benefit Farragut Business Alliance, the group planning the event.
