‘Taste of Farragut’ this Friday, Sept. 10

Don’t miss the second-annual Taste of Farragut!

Seventeen restaurants from across Farragut will serve their best dishes at the event, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, in the old Kroger parking lot off Kingston Pike.

Aubrey’s Restaurant, Border Taco, Captain Ernie’s, Cookies by Design, Hibachi Factory, Jet’s Pizza, Kroger Marketplace Bistro, Meksiko Cantina, Newk’s Express Café, New York Avenue Pizza, Oskie’s Sports Bar and Grill, Seasons Café, Shrimp Dock, Snappy Tomato, Tastefully Simple, VG’s Bakery and Webster’s Deli are participating.

“This is about the personalized tastes of Farragut,” one of the event planners, David Purvis, said.

Taste of Farragut highlights the many food establishments in Town limits, and will feature six wine distributors, as well as Silo Cigars.

“The goal is not to feed everyone a whole meal on a plate — it’s tastings. We’ll have a lot of restaurants there,” Purvis said.

The restaurants will serve dishes as varied as seafood paella, beef nachos, Cuban sandwiches, buffalo wings, smoked duck with brie cheese grits, Italian beef sandwiches, shrimp boil, sliders, chicken salad sandwiches and gourmet cookies and dessert bars.

The Farragut Business Alliance, which is planning the event, will provide seating for about 200 guests at round tables, plus high-top tables for those who can stand.

“We may be making it nicer by providing more seating,” Purvis said.

More than 400 people attended last year’s inaugural Taste of Farragut, and event planners are hoping for double that number this year.

“We could probably get 800 people, maybe more,” Purvis said.

Admission ticket prices are $25 for adults (including food and drink), $20 for adults (food only), $10 for children 12 and under, and children 6 and under are free.

i105.3 WFIV will have a live remote from the event.

Town of Farragut and Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce are event sponsors and farragutpress is the media sponsor.

Event proceeds will benefit Farragut Business Alliance.

The extended forecast calls for sunny skies and moderate temperatures, but a rain date for the event is scheduled for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12.
