Blance brothers combine for four TDs in Spartans’ rout at E-Harding

Webb took the second step towards defending its Division II-A state championship Friday, Sept. 3, by traveling to Antioch and beating Ezell-Harding 37-0.

It took Webb (2-0) only 1:15 to take an early lead off an Aaron Blance 33-yard touchdown run right through Eagle defenders.

Bryan Berube and Caleb Blance contributed with 14 and 10-yard touchdown runs, respectively, as the Spartans led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

“We were just determined to gain yards, and that ended up in a few big runs and passes,” senior wide receiver Brennan Liu said.

Jim Dolinak, who found the end zone with 10:11 remaining in the second quarter off a two-yard dive, added, “The line blocked really well. They managed to get up field and allowed our running backs to use their speed.”

As the quarter drew to an end, Aaron Blance crossed the goal-line one more time, this time coming from a 48-yard pitch down the sideline.

Webb would cap off its scoring with a blocked punt resulting in a safety and a 37-point advantage..

“Right now we have the mindset that we can beat anybody and run right through them,” Dolinak said

Next up for the Spartans is a trip to Halls.

Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10.
