Good Works Team nomination latest honor for ex-Admiral Warren

American Football Coaches Association announced Tuesday July 11, that Jacob Warren, UT Vols redshirt senior tight end and ex-Farragut High star (Class of 2018), is one of 136 nominees nationwide for the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

“The Good Works Team was established in 1992, recognizing the extra efforts made by college football players and student support staff off the field,” a UT Sports Information release stated. “AFCA became the governing body of the award in 1997 and continues to honor college football players who go the extra mile for those in need. ...”

A five-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Warren “represented Tennessee on the 2022 SEC Community Service Team and was nominated for the Wuerffel Trophy last fall after showing tremendous leadership on and off the field,” the release further stated.

“Warren was instrumental in the planning, promotion and logistics of the Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries Coats for the Cold drive this past winter that provided thousands of people in need with cold-weather gear for the upcoming winter. He also has bettered his community through work with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, the Wesley House Community Center and The Love Kitchen. ...”

Warren also is “heavily involved with his church, regularly volunteering his time at church events and other activities,” the release stated. “Warren volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club through a church program, led Bible studies and engaged with kids by playing sports and making crafts.”

The sixth-year senior earned his undergraduate degree from UT in kinesiology in May 2021 and currently is pursuing a Master of Science degree in agricultural leadership, education and communication.

On the field, the local product has played in 41 games with 20 starts, entering his third straight year as a starter with career totals of 37 receptions for 416 yards and four touchdowns.
