• Knoxville Christian School’s Junior Varsity Football team recently picked up the school’s first-ever football win by blanking Harriman 20-0.

• Farragut High School Varsity Dance Team will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at Aubrey’s restaurant in Farragut.  Cost is $5 per person. • In memory of Jerry Hatmaker, 2nd Annual Goodwill Golf Classic will take place from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, at Holston Hills County Club. Tournament format is four-person scramble. Individual players will be grouped into teams based on handicaps. Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 11. • Hardin Valley Academy Athletic Association will sponsor a pancake breakfast at Aubrey's restaurant, at corner of Middlebrook Pike and Cedar Bluff Road, from 8 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16. See a member of the dance team, swimming team, softball team or wrestling team for advance tickets. Tickets also will be sold at the door.

• Fourth Annual Volley For a Cure Tennis Exhibition and Dinner, a fundraiser to benefit Knoxville affiliate of Susan G. Komen For a Cure, is Friday, Oct. 1, at Fox Den Country Club courts and clubhouse. A tennis exhibition between former pros Chris Groer and Ben Rodgers starts the evening at 6 p.m. A silent auction follows at 6:30 in FDCC clubhouse. Dinner is 7:30. Tickets are $40 each. • Annual Bearden High School Baseball Golf Tournament — to be played in memory of the late Mark Keen, president of Bulldog Baseball Dugout Club last season and a prominent, highly respected booster — is set for Willow Creek Golf Course Friday, Oct. 22. • Tickets on sale for The Hearing and Speech Foundation's Fourth Annual Away Game Tailgate Fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 2, guest-hosted by former All-American Tennessee Volunteers All-SEC receiver Larry Seivers. Event takes place in Neyland Stadium's East Club Skybox while first-year UT Football head coach Derek Dooley and his Vols tackle LSU in Baton Rouge, La. Doors will open one hour before kickoff. Tickets include a lavish buffet of tailgate food and two complimentary beverages. Ticket sales are tax deductible; proceeds benefit The Hearing and Speech Foundation. Also a silent auction. • Free to Breathe 5K Run/1 Mile Walk unites people passionate about raising money to fight lung cancer. Event is Saturday, Oct. 16, in Village Green Subdivision, Jamestowne Boulevard, Farragut. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. on race day. One-Mile Walk begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by 5K Run at 8:30.
