Celebrate with East Tennessee Trimlight

Imagine never having to put up holiday lights year after year.

East Tennessee Trimlight, a new business at 135 Fox Road, makes outdoor lighting easier because it does it for the homeowners and businesses.

Friends David Kilburn, Michael “Mike” Teske and James Luby partnered the first of the year to open East Tennessee Trimlight, to install exterior LED permanent lighting for homes and commercial buildings.

“All of our lights are app-controlled, so they’re manipulated (via smartphone) to any kind of colors or patterns you want,” Kilburn said. “Obviously, not every day is a holiday, so off-seasons you can do security lighting or just soffit lighting as an accent.

“But everything’s through a free Trimlight app,” he added.

“And, it’s available to residential and commercial,” Teske said. “It mounts, typically, to the soffit or fascia of the house, and it’s all routed through a channel that color matches and is smartphone control.”

“It’s got multi-use,” Luby said.

The lights are not just for Christmas. The partners showed how they could be used for Easter or other holidays, as well as supporting one’s favorite ball team for a big game.

“We all have it on our house, right now, in preparation for the upcoming (UT) Volunteer football season,” Kilburn said. “We have the Volunteer orange and white pattern.”

So, instead of Christmas lights, the lights are programmed to be orange and white for “Game Day.”

“Something else you can do (is) you can put your lights to music,” Luby said.

“You can manipulate every bulb,” Kilburn said. “I know one of my kids doesn’t like light — they’re trying to sleep — so we’ll have all our lights on except for the ones above the window.

“You can go in and cut those light diodes off, so there’s no light in front of the window,” he added. “Every bulb in the system can be manipulated to whatever fits the user.”

“They’re all individually controlled,” Luby added.

They also said the Trimlight’s LED lights last longer than traditional lighting.

Additionally, “you can fade them in and out, or you can make them run,” Kilburn said.

“The best thing is once they’re there, they’re there,” Teske said. “No more ladder.”
