Hats off to Picnic planners

The Farragut community turned out in droves to help the Town celebrate its 30th anniversary at the (hopefully) inaugural Picnic on the Pike Sunday, Oct. 10.

The date was important since the event took place on 10/10/10 (= 30) for a particularly clever way to commemorate the founding of the Town 30 years ago.

Town planners Sue Stuhl, Ann LeGrow and members of the Picnic on the Pike Planning Committee are due a tremendous pat on the back, kudos, congratulations and whatever other accolades are fitting from the entire community for organizing and ensuring a successful, memorable event.

Picnic on the Pike had something for everyone. From the kidsí activities, to the crafters, the food vendors and especially the live entertainment.

The bluegrass band Slim Pickinís was just the right sound to kick off the opening hours for the afternoon. Slim, followed by the harmonious sounds of Farragut High School Chorus and their patriotic repertoire would have been adequate for any gathering. However, the Town planners brought in The Atomic Horns with its Chicagoesque style to cap off the day.

Family friendly events such as Picnic on the Pike; Taste of Farragut; Red, White & Blues; Renaissance|Farragut Fall Festival; as well as the Farragut West Knox Chamber Farragut Fall 5k, all serve as excellent events to bring our neighbors into Town to see what we have to offer.

Now that a tone for excellent events has been established, full speed ahead to keep the momentum going.
