• Christian Academy of Knoxville announces changes to its upcoming high school football schedule. Elizabethton game at CAK Friday Oct. 22, has been moved up to a 7 p.m. opening kickoff. The Warriors' game at Alcoa has been moved to Thursday, Oct. 29. Opening kickoff for that game remains 7:30 p.m.


• In only its third year of existence, Hardin Valley Academy's cross country program, led by head coach Bryan Brown, finds its boys team ranked No. 2 in the state (Class AAA) and the girls team ranked No. 3 in state. During the recent Wendy's Invitational in Charlotte, N.C. among a 32-team southeastern United States field, the HVA boys captured first-place and the girls second-place.

• Mercy Health Partners is sponsoring Farragut's 2010 Hot To Trot 5K/10K Road Race on Parkside Drive beginning at 7:30 a.m., Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25. Proceeds benefit Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, Sister Martha's Food Pantry and town of Farragut Parks and Recreation department. • In memory of Jerry Hatmaker, 2nd Annual Goodwill Golf Classic will take place from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, at Holston Hills County Club. Tournament format is four-person scramble. Individual players will be grouped into teams based on handicaps. Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 11. • Annual Bearden High School Baseball Golf Tournament — to be played in memory of the late Mark Keen, president of Bulldog Baseball Dugout Club last season and a prominent, highly respected booster — is set for Willow Creek Golf Course Friday, Oct. 22. • Free to Breathe 5K Run/1 Mile Walk unites people passionate about raising money to fight lung cancer. Event is Saturday, Oct. 16, in Village Green Subdivision, Jamestowne Boulevard, Farragut. • Through a lease gift from Maryville College Board Member Teenie Hayworth, Penrose Farm, Hayworth's 130-acre equine facility located off Nubbin Ridge Road, is now home to Maryville College's 15-member equestrian team.
