Reader surprised by Sept. 1 BOMA ‘purchase agreement’

I was very surprised to learn today reading the farragutpress that Mayor Ron Williams signed the purchase agreement for $5.5 million dollars to buy the McFee Road land on Sept. 1.
I watched the June 22 (Board of) Mayor and Alderman meeting and there was no mention of anything other than a letter of credit being voted on. On the agenda only a letter of credit was listed. This is so unethical.
I would appreciated an explanation of how this could happen. Now I understand why the four citizens who spoke in the Sept. 14 Mayor and Aldermen meeting wanted their questions answered on the record.
