KIL Cross Country No.1’s are FHS varsity, JV boys; Webb varsity, JV girls

KNOXVILLE — Farragut’s boys, both varsity and junior varsity, and Webb School of Knoxville’s girls, both varsity and JV, claimed KIL Cross Country championships after running the Cherokee Boulevard area Saturday morning, Sept. 30

The Admirals varsity boys edged runner-up Knoxville Catholic 48-55, with Hardin Valley Academy third (77).

Keegan Smith, KCHS junior, won his third straight KIL title (14:55.98), followed by Webb’s Colin Eckerman, FHS’s Matteo Tonnos and Braden Ebbert, Radek Molchan (KCHS), Harrison Cunningham (FHS) and Gabe Allen (seventh) and Carson Long (ninth, both of HVA).

The Lady Spartans varsity runners won with 31 points, followed by Hardin Valley (47) and the Lady Admirals (111).

Behind individual champ Kate Robinson of West was Lady Hawk senior Maddie Archdale, followed by Webb’s Jazzlyn Garmer, HVA’s Emma Cissna, Webb’s Kristina Weaver, Anna Graves, Lauren Davis and Calysta Garmer (fifth, sixth, eighth and nine, respectively) and HVA’s Alexandra Vesser.

Farragut was boys JV champ with 23, followed by Hardin Valley Academy (36) and KCHS (103). Jase Morton of FHS was boys individual champ (17:16.12), followed by Colby Young and Cooper McKaig (HVA), and Casey Pribish, Kaelan Tonnos, Brody Dickerson, Nick DeGuira, William Tucker, Alex Moran and Joey Nieman, all from FHS.

Webb’s girls JV champ number was 19, with FHS second (38) and HVA third (79). Lady Spartan Ellie Simpson (20:26.58) was individual No. 1, followed by teammates Avery Krishnan (second), Chloe Wilson (fourth), McCollum Huxley (fifth), Gaby Bainbridge (seventh) and Andrey Cookston (ninth). Top FHS girls were Claire Tootle (third), Beverly Mortenson (sixth), Sophia McDonnell (eighth) and Ella Gruzalski (10th).
