• What’s it going to take to get something done to help with the vehicle wrecks that are constantly happening at the intersection of Everett and Union roads? The supposed speed limit is 30 mph, which is a joke. There are wrecks almost weekly and someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed, unfortunately.

Why can’t they put a caution light or something out there to help control the constant speeders up and down Everett Speedway/Demolition Derby? The Sheriff’s Office would be greatly appreciated if they would set up, out here on the “side roads,” to monitor and catch them going 50 to 60 or more mph.

• I attended the Town Hall meeting that was at the Senior Center regarding the future plans for Farragut. And one thing that continues to come to mind is, I understood that you were planning a town center around the Kroger on Brooklawn (Street), where the apartments and Kroger are, and to extend it.

And maybe I misunderstood that part, period. I don’t understand why we would not have our Town Hall being the center of our Town and extending what we’re doing for a Town Hall to the property that is beside the Town Hall that is (available) from (a past Town official). That is a beautiful area and it could be (home to) gorgeous small shops and coffee shops, whatever you have in your planning. But we have a beautiful Town Hall to focus on and a nice Post Office. And we should take that and extend from that so that people can walk over and visit the (Farragut) Museum (inside Town Hall).

• I’m calling in response to the Letter to the Editor on (Oct. 4) … who wrote the letter saying they didn’t want affordable housing in Choto. They gave 400 reasons why they didn’t want it. What they were saying was “anywhere but my backyard.”… They shove it on everybody else. But I guess if you’re affluent, you don’t have to have affordable housing in your neighborhood.
