Sports boaters rejoice!

Tommy’s Boats Knoxville, the largest global dealer of Malibu and Axis watersports, towboats and Tahoe pontoon boats, will celebrate the grand opening of its new showroom and service center Saturday, Oct. 28, at its new location, 11470 Outlet Drive.

While the doors will open at 9 a.m., the celebration will start with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., when leaders from Tommy’s Boats, the Town of Farragut, Tennessee General Assembly, OC Construction (facility contractor) and the local community will gather while Farragut Mayor Ron Williams recognizes Tommy’s Boats’ commitment to the business community.

“We’re excited that Tommy’s Boats chose to expand its Knoxville location right here in our community,” Williams said. “Tommy’s Boats investment helps provide economic prosperity through jobs and by attracting water sport enthusiasts to our community.”

Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new facility, view 2024 models on display and take advantage of limited special-event pricing on boats, rentals and the Wake & Surf Shop.

Guests also can enjoy food trucks and drinks, games, a bounce house, giveaways, candy bar, an outdoor display of football games and a special appearance by Malibu Boats Pro Rider, Guenther Oka, from 4 to 8 p.m.

There also will be a silent auction to benefit local non-profit organization, Second Chance Boxing Club.

“We’ll have great items,” TBK general manager Dustin Burke said. “With that auction, all the proceeds — and a portion of the proceeds we make that day — will go to the non-profit.”

“We’re actually really excited,” he added about moving into the remodeled facility.

Saying he’s been in the soon-to-be old building (10630 Lexington Drive) “about seven years” while previously employed with Moses Watersports, which opened in 2017, Burke added that was “before Tommy’s bought us out two years ago.”

The first Tommy’s store, now headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, actually started in Denver in 1981, he said.

“We’ve just outgrown it,” Burke said about the Lexington Drive location. “As you can see, getting into the parking lot is kind of tight (at the old location). So, we’re super excited to go to a new state-of-the-art facility. It’s better for the service department guys; newer, nicer for the sales side of things; and it’s just going to be a really good experience for the customers and for us as well.”

Regarding the change in locations, “we’ve always called this a destination location,” he said. “You can see us good from the Interstate, but getting here from the other side is a little tough, so there will be a lot more space to get in (to the new location).”

The new 18,000-square-foot facility, which houses a boat showroom, the Wake and Surf Shop, sales offices and a 12-bay service department, is situated on 6.9 acres.

Its Malibu boats are built in nearby Loudon, according to a Tommy’s press release. For more information, call 865-671-2890 or visit https://www.gettommys.com/
