FHS seeking back-to-back at state meet

HVA girls region champ

It was business as usual for Farragut High School’s cross country boys during the Region 2-AAA meet at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville Wednesday, Oct. 25.

As expected, the defending Division I-AAA state champs dominated, easily finishing first (20 versus runner-up Hardin Valley Academy’s 57) as led by some familiar names at the top of the individual finishers list.

Individual champion was Admiral Matteo Tonnos (15:40.17), foll0wed by runner-up Braden Ebbert (15:58.48), third-place Harrison Cunningham (16:04.65 ), fifth-place Evan Beeler (16:14.49) and ninth-place Tanner Coggin (16:44.73).

This week’s Class AAA state meet will be held at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville Thursday, Nov. 2.

Team runner-up HVA placed three runners in the top 10 and six in the top 20: Gabe Allen (fourth, 16:11.21), Garrett Hawkins (eighth, 16:37.95) and Carson Long (10th, 16:48.30).

Bearden’s top runner, Cade Crum, finished sixth (16:14.96).

Girls: HVA, FHS, BHS

With three girls in the top six and seven in the top 20, the HVA girls were region champs 26, followed by Farragut (75) and Bearden (87).

Individual runner-up Emma Cissna led the region champs (18:57.61), followed by fourth-place Alexandra Vesser (19:15.63) and Maddie Archdale sixth (19:56.15).

Kenzie Lefler (ninth, 20:57.29) led FHS. Bearden had two in the top 10: Millie Lovett (eighth, 20:51.20) and Lakin Gettelfinger (10th, 20:59.45).
