Knox County ‘Festival of Lights’ opens Friday

Knox County Parks and Recreation presents a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit while enjoying some fresh air and exercise. The Holiday Festival of Lights at The Cove at Concord Park opens from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17. The Cove is located at 11808 Northshore Drive.

Walking the three-quarter mile paved trail amidst a twinkling wonderland of light displays, you’ll see over one hundred thousand lights, some coordinated to music. The event will continue through Dec. 30, but will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Santa will be there Dec. 17-23. He’s busy Christmas Eve.

“Christmas lights are a great holiday tradition, and this is a good way for families to see an outstanding light display while being able to enjoy one of Knox County’s many parks,” Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said.

On the nights prior to Christmas, Santa Claus will be there to greet visitors. Bonfires will be glowing for warming fingers and roasting marshmallows. Hot kettle corn, coffee and hot cocoa and the makings for s’mores will be available for purchase.

The Holiday Festival of Lights is free and open to the public. However, donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for The Love Kitchen.

Pets on leashes are welcome.
