• Knox County again recently earned: the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award, one of the highest honors in the arena of government accounting and finance reporting; Distinguished Budget Presentation Award; and Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award.

• Knoxville Museum of Art recently announced the appointment of Steven Matijcio as its new executive director.

• The Lawson Family Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to promoting justice and opportunity, recently announced the appointment of David Arning as president.

Arning comes to the position with more than 20 years’ experience in real estate, community development and nonprofit work. He is active in the Knoxville community and sits on the board of directors of Bijou Theatre and Volunteer Ministry Center.

• Following a lifelong career in the grocery industry, Ron Tacker, executive vice president of operations for Food City’s Knoxville division, recently announced plans to retire from the company effective March 1. Tacker began his career working at this large national grocery chain while in high school.

At 21, he later was promoted to assistant store manager, then at 25 he was promoted to district manager. He continued to advance.

Katie Penny will assume the role of executive vice president of operations, filling Tacker’s role.

• SmartBank, which has a branch in Farragut, recently announced president and CEO William Y. Carroll Jr. has been elected to the board of directors of Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

The appointment reflects Carroll’s exceptional leadership qualities, financial expertise and dedication to advancing the banking industry.

• LDA Engineering has hired Carlton Davis as executive vice president and chief operating officer, with duties spanning the LDA Engineering family of companies, including LDA Engineering, LDA Fiber and LDA Services.

• Tennova Urology recently opened its new state-of-the-art urology clinic at 7565 Dannaher Drive, Suite G10, in Powell. This is Tennova Urology’s eighth location.
