• For a second time in roughly 10 days, Farragut High School's varsity basketball games scheduled at Bearden have been moved to a new date. Originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 7, before being postponed due to weather — then rescheduled for Monday night, Jan. 17, only to see those plans change — this West Knox County rivalry showdown at BHS has been moved to Friday, Feb. 11. Varsity girls game will begin at 6:30 p.m.

• Upcoming varsity high school basketball games for Westside teams, Thursday, Jan. 20, through Wednesday, Jan. 26 (all games start with girls game at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted): Farragut teams home versus Knoxville Catholic, Friday, Jan. 21; at William Blount, Tuesday, Jan. 25. Hardin Valley Academy teams home versus Lenoir City Thursday; at Campbell County Friday; home versus Clinton Monday; at Halls Tuesday. Bearden teams at West Friday; at Heritage Tuesday.

• A $500,000 purse awaits top finishers at PGA Nationwide Tour’s annual stop at Fox Den Country Club, which again will be played in late August. Formerly known as Knoxville Open and annually played at Fox Den in early to mid-June before last year, this season’s Nationwide Tour stop runs Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 25-28.


• CBFO Girls Softball sign-ups for girls ages 4 to 19 run each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., through Feb. 12, at program’s location, 11609 Northshore Drive. Leagues are 4-7, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-19. For more info, call 865-966-0907 or 865-805-2813.
