‘Treasure Island’ by BHS theater April 19-21
The play adapted by Scottish novelist Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved novel, “Treasure Island,” is “timeless entertainment for children and adults alike,” theater teacher Katie Alley stated in a press release.
“This production offers a perfect blend of suspense and excitement that will appeal to young adventurers and seasoned theater-goers alike,” she added. “Navigate the tumultuous waters of loyalty, ambition and friendship.
“Join Jim Hawkins and a cast of unforgettable characters for an expedition that promises to be as perilous as it is exhilarating.”
However, Alley said this play “includes acts of violence in it as a way of storytelling. Viewer discretion is advised.”
Still, the performance is “open to every theater lover in our community,” Alley said.
Tickets, which are available at beardentheatre.com, are $15 for general admission, to pre- order on the website or at the door.
The play includes 20 cast members and 25 crew, ranging from sophomores to seniors.
The lead performers include: Caroline Alley, sophomore, as Jim Hawkins, and senior Lauren Hill as Long John Silver, with supporting roles played by senior Lindy McCool as Doctor Livesy, sophomore Tyson Martin as Squire and junior Luke Anderson as Captain Smollett.
“This show was chosen due to the hilarious and emotional moments throughout,” Alley said.
