Farragut’s EDC welcomes Hispanic Chamber delegates

Farragut’s Economic Development Committee welcomed members of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of East Tennessee, which recently relocated to Farragut, at its meeting Wednesday, Feb. 2.

HCCET executive director Luis Velazquez gave a brief history of HCCET, which was founded in 2004 with offices at Knoxville Chamber Partnership in Market Square in Downtown Knoxville.

HCCET relocated to Farragut in late 2010.

“We needed to find a place we could expand and work,” Velazquez said.

Farragut businessmen Fuad Reveiz and Todd Henderson played pivotal roles in recruiting the HCCET to Farragut.

Reveiz pointed out to the EDC the HCCET was not an exclusive Chamber, although it is geared toward helping Hispanic businesses or businesses that wish to reach out to the Hispanic community.

“We want to weave ourselves into the community and not be isolative,” Reveiz said.

“Our Christmas party was at the Irish Pub,” he laughed.

The group also advocated joint efforts between HCCET and the Town, the EDC, Farragut Business Alliance and Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce.

“None of us can grow without joining hands. It’s about all of us working together,” Reveiz said.

Farragut West Knox Chamber president and CEO Bettye Sisco agreed.

“We work together, these Chambers. I’m happy you’re here,” she said.
