BOMA completes ‘plan’ workshops

Farragut’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen held its final workshop session to complete its strategic plan last weekend, Feb. 18-19.

“We started with just defining the vision the Board has for the Town 15 years from now, what they would like to see, how they would like to see us grow. Then we started focusing on our five year goals on how to get there, and from there we focused on one year strategies, or action plans, our work program items that would link up to all those things,” Smoak said.

The more immediate goals listed in the strategic plan include exploring annexation options, and finalizing employee compensation and retirement plans.

Other discussion included alternative revenue sources, updating the Town’s land use plan and creating a master plan for McFee Park and continuing to explore the options for a community center.

“The Board has done an outstanding job of really sitting down and focusing on what they want to see Farragut become.

“And, you know, it may not change much or it may change a lot; it just depends on what the future holds,” Smoak said.

Smoak said the completed plan hopefully would be adopted soon at a Board meeting.
