Chamber debuts phone app

“There’s an app for that.”

That ubiquitous phrase now applies to Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce, which unveiled its new phone app, available for Droids and iPhones, last week.

“It is awesome,” Chamber president and CEO Bettye Sisco said.

“With the cell phone becoming what it is and how useful the tool has become, it allows the Chamber to be in front of people in a much more visible way, wherever they are.

“We’re obviously thrilled about it. We think it’s going to be a great enhancement for all of our membership and even for prospective members, who hear about our Chamber and want to become part of it or want to learn more about it,” she added.

The app includes a link to the Chamber’s Twitter and Facebook feeds, as well as a calendar of upcoming events.

“The calendar is a really terrific feature because it can obviously give you the locations and the maps of how to get to our networkings, as well as the time and the information you need to get there.

“And you can sync it with your own Google calendar,” Sisco said.

The app also features a membership search, as well as pictures and videos from recent events, including a YouTube-hosted video that details 2010’s Chamber events.

“The membership search is important because it contains our entire directory at your fingertips. It will be updated at least monthly with all the new members, so it keeps everyone in tune with who is a part of the Chamber and who is not,” Sisco said.

As more users download the app, Sisco said the Chamber will stay in tune with what Chamber members are using or what they need.

“And we will add to it as needed, and update information,” Sisco said.

The Chamber’s app was designed by Apptastic.
