• Town of Farragut Parks and Leisure Services Department invites community members ages 13 and up to participate in its 3rd Annual Kickball Tournament scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 5, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road. • The 27th Wellness Center Dogwood Classic 5K Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 30, at the west end of Cherokee Boulevard in Sequoyah Hills. Race start is 8 a.m. for all 5K participants. Registration is open until April 22 for all 5K participants. Optional packet pick-up will be available Friday, April 29, at The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Race day registration and packet pick-up will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:45 a.m. in the race tent adjacent to the far west end parking lot of Cherokee Boulevard. • American Cancer Society will host 2011 Relay For Life of West Knox at The Cove Park begins at 7 p.m., Friday, April 29, and continues throughout the evening and overnight until closing ceremonies at 6:30 a.m., Saturday, April 30. • Brooke Culbreth Memorial Alumni Soccer Game, pitting Farragut High School boys soccer alumni odd year graduates versus even year grads, begins at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at Farragut Intermediate School field. • Three Westside high school baseball teams will get a chance to play in a Minor League Baseball Class AA park later this month in a special doubleheader. Eighth Annual Fighting Irish Spring Baseball Classic is scheduled Tuesday, April 26, at Smokies Park in Kodak. Pregame activities begin at 5 p.m. The first of two games begins at 5:45 with Webb School of Knoxville, defending Division II-A state champs, versus Grace Christian Academy. Ken Sparks, legendary head coach of Carson-Newman College Football, will speak between games. Game two, featuring Knoxville Catholic versus Bearden, begins around 7:45 p.m. Proceeds benefit Catholic Charities of East Tennessee Pregnancy and Adoption Services. • In recognition of April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month Farragut High School Baseball and The Society of Friendly Fellows are combining forces for 2nd Annual National Parkinson Foundation Turn Back the Clock evening fundraiser doubleheader at FHS’s John Heatherly Field Thursday, April 28. First game is Oak Ridge versus Gibbs starting at 5 p.m., followed by Karns versus FHS at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
