Lovell Road, Kingston Pike work nears completion

Drivers on Kingston Pike should expect an easier traffic situation at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Lovell Road.

And TDOT spokesman B.J. Doughty said the improvements at that intersection — which includes a double left turn lane from the Pike onto Lovell — could be completed by April 30.

“The project is scheduled to be complete by April 30, 2011. However, there have been some delays associated with utility relocation. We don’t have a revised completion date at this time,” Doughty said in an e-mail.

Besides the double-left turn addition, the road project will include “traffic signals, pavement overlay and widening,” Doughty said.

“The contractor is currently performing excavation, installing drainage pipe and catch basins, and utility relocation is continuing,” she added.

The contract was awarded to Rodgers Group for $442,718.

According to TDOT, the project should be relatively short-lived and have a minimal impact on drivers.
