Webb whips Mavs, Fulton


Webb School of Knoxville Baseball used a six-run second inning to defeat Anderson County 7-1 Thursday, then whipped Fulton 7-2 Monday to improve its overall record to 15-4.

Senior Kyle King smacked a second-inning grand slam, highlighted the Spartansí six-run outburst April 14 versus ACHS in opening round Kesslers Classic pool play at Webb.

Junior Joe Hall also had two hits for the Spartans.

Senior Parker Wormsley, carrying a 3-0 pitching record into this week, started and went five innings against the Mavericks, allowing just one earned run.

Clay Tucker, a junior, relieved the final two innings and did not allow a hit.

Seymour hammered the Spartans Saturday at Webb, 20-11, in Kesslers Classic pool play despite two home runs and six RBI from junior Jim Dolinak.

Wormsley also homered in the loss, with two RBI, while King added three hits.


Webb got back to its winning ways April 18 against Fulton. Winning pitcher Frank Potts, a junior, improved his season record to 4-1.

Offensively, King stroked a triple and a double and had two RBI, while junior Michael Lindstrom went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases.
