The Shrimp Dock of Farragut is celebrating its third anniversary in late April.

“The Shrimp Dock is owned by Farragut residents and managed by ‘Captain Allen Shields’ and ‘first mate Jeff Shields,’” one of the business’s owners, Phil Dangel, said.

Dangel owns The Shrimp Dock with his wife, Becky, and business partners Alan and Helen Markway.

“The Farragut customer wants fresh product, not frozen. We’ve become the place in Town for fresh salmon, fresh oysters and fresh crawfish,” Dangel said.

“In fact, I think we’re the only place in Farragut that sells live crawfish,” he added.

And The Shrimp Dock isn’t just known for its fresh fish and seafood.

“Our lunch business has grown dramatically; we’re serving many more po’ boys. And the Friday Night Fish Fry has become a popular thing in Farragut,” Dangel said.

“People have come to know The Dock as part of the community, and they love the freshness of our product,” manager Allen Shields said.

According to Dangel, the community-oriented feel of the store is important.

“The Shrimp Dock is very involved; there are very few events that happen in Farragut that The Shrimp Dock is not involved in, and that’s because we believe in the Farragut community,” Dangel said.

“We believe Farragut is a great place to do business. We believe that if the community supports us, we should turn around and support the community,” he added.

The Shrimp Dock, 11124 Kingston Pike, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Saturdays; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays, and from noon to 5 p.m., Sundays.
