• HUBER, Sgt. Tyler John,
age 24 of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011. Sgt. Huber was actively serving in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger with three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has earned the Army Achievement Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Parachute Badge, Ranger Tab, Joint Service Accommodation Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal and Iraqi Campaign Medal. Tyler was a 2005 graduate of West High School and attended The University of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Norris Ann Smith and Elizabeth Huber; and beloved uncle, John C. Smith III. Tyler is survived by his mother, Sabrina Smith; father, Paul Huber; brother and sister-in-law, Zachary and Jennifer Huber; grandfathers, John C. Smith and Daniel J. Huber; a niece; and many friends and comrades. Graveside services were Monday at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, with Full Military Honors conferred by the U.S. Army. • CRUMLEY, Alma Gay,
age 81, of Farragut passed away Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011, at her home. Alma was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her favorite past time was reading Amish and Christian books and the love of her church. She was preceded in death by her husband 46 years, Carl Leon Crumley; and son, Carl Douglas Crumley. She is survived by her children, Charlene Bessler and husband, Mike, Dan Crumley; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. • HICKS, Barbara,
age 86, of Knoxville formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. She was preceded in death by husband, Howard G. Hicks; son, Earl Morrell Hicks II; daughter, Deborah Sue Mitson; a brother and two sisters. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Olivia H. Wilson; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Mary) Sharpe and Bob (Lois Jean) Sharpe; and several nieces and nephews. • GRECCO PhD, William Louis “Bill,”
age 86, of Knoxville passed away Tuesday morning, April 12, 2011. Bill was born in Brockway, Pa. He was a graduate of Butler High School and was named distinguished alumni in 1985. Bill was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Bill retired from The University of Tennessee as an associate dean for academic affairs for the College of Engineering. He was the former dean for the College of Civil Engineering at UT. Bill was a member of the Tau Beta Phi national engineering honor society. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Margaret Grecco; grandson, Mark Grecco; parents, Cosimo and Mary Grecco. He is survived by his wife, Patricia E. J. Grecco; children and spouses, Karen and Mike Cornell, Mike and Susan Grecco, Kathy and Bill Garner, Nancy and Greg O’Connor, Martha and Rob Burke, Mary Thayer, Dan and Theresa Grecco, Paul and Susie Grecco, and Amy and Doug Patterson; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Kathleen and Paul Fortunato, Marjorie and Nick Cardullis; five stepgrandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Gerri Grecco, John and Carolyn Grecco, Eddie and Joanne Grecco, Carl Grecco; several nieces and nephews.
