Noodles & Company opened its doors in Turkey Creek this Monday, April 25.

The restaurant, which serves Asian, Mediterranean and American noodle dishes, opened its first Knoxville-area location at 11083 Parkside Drive.

Jill Preston, Noodles spokesman, said, “We’ve had a lot of requests from people, over the years, asking us to open in Tennessee.”

In fact, Noodles & Company opened its first location in Nashville the same day.

“We believe it will do really, really well in Knoxville,” Preston said.

“The University in Knoxville is huge for us. We do very well in different college environments. Obviously Turkey Creek with the shopping and the retail, and that coupled with being in a college environment, we have found those areas serve us well,” she added.

The fast-casual restaurant serves lunch and dinner options that include noodle dishes as well as salads, soups and sandwiches.

“Our concept is noodles, soups and sandwiches from around the world. So what’s really cool about Noodles & Company is that we don’t have just one menu type; we actually have three different menu categories — Asian, Mediterranean and American,” Preston said.

The broad range of choices makes the restaurant popular with families.

“You know how it is: sometimes someone is in the mood for one thing, and someone is in the mood for something else and you guys can’t decide.

“What’s great about Noodles is that there is so much variety and it kind of helps with that ‘veto vote’ of ‘I don’t want to go there,’” Preston added.

And the price range makes the restaurant a popular choice with anyone.

“It’s $5.25 for a regular bowl; $4.25 for a small bowl. It’s very appealing to a lot of people,” Preston said.

Customers order from a counter, then are given a number and are free to find a seat. And unlike other fast casual restaurants, Preston said, Noodles & Company customers have their food delivered “on real china with real silverware,” and are not expected to bus their own tables.

“It’s really more of an elevated dining experience,” Preston said.

“And the environment is really comfortable and welcoming,” she added.

The restaurant also offers a family-style to-go option for large groups called “Square Bowls.” Each “Square Bowl” is customizable and serves four to six people. Noodles & Company also offers carry-out, and customers can phone-in or fax-in orders.

Noodles & Company will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.

“We’re excited to open our first restaurant in Knoxville,” said Kevin Reddy, CEO and chairman of Noodles & Company, in a press release.
