• Farragut High School Baseball tryouts for all rising 2012 freshmen and any new players to program begin at 2 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday, June 8-9, at FHS's John Heatherly Field.

• Farragut Middle School Baseball tryouts for rising sixth- seventh- and eight-graders begin at 5 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday, June 8-9, at FHS's John Heatherly Field.

• A.J. Simcox, Farragut High School junior shortstop, was named District 4-AAA Baseball Most Valuable Player after release of All-district honors last week. Derek Chandler, Farragut senior pitcher, was named Pitcher of the Year. Ben Breazeale, Knoxville Catholic High School sophomore catcher, was named Rookie of the Year, while Irish teammate Trey Leake, senior first baseman, earned Offensive Player of the Year honors. Coach of the Year is Jack Tate, head coach at Bearden. Other First Team All-district players from Farragut are Nicky Delmonico, Xander Taylor, Scott Miller, Nick Senzel, Cameron Strickland and Philip Pfeifer. Bearden First Team honorees are Derek Lance, Chris Hamilton, Trey York, Dakota Stallings, Ronnie Broyles and Craig Norwood. Other Irish honorees are Drew Ferguson, Ben Breazeale, Aaron Aucker, George Harrison and Zach Quayle. Honorable Mention All-district are, from Farragut, Chandler Vannoy, Jordan Newby and Chase Chambers; from Bearden, Zach Sale, Ty Hill and Rob Thress; from Catholic, Hunter Hayes. All-Academic Team honorees were Farragut’s Evan Surrett, Lance of Bearden and Harrison from Catholic.

• Town of Farragut Parks and Leisure Services Department invites community members ages 13 and up to participate in its 3rd Annual Kickball Tournament set to begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 5, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road. • Farragut Softball senior infielder Megan Harris set two single-season school records — 10 home runs and a .619 season batting average — despite her team’s 12-4 District 4-AAA tourney loss to Maryville to end the Lady Ads’ season at 23-13-1. David Moore, FHS head coach, praised Harris, a four-year starter, while also praising his three other senior starters for “major contributions:” centerfielder Madison Gray (three-year starter, .416 season average), infielder Andi Murry, a four-year starter, and left fielder Chelsea Sutphin, a two-year starter.

• Former All-state Farragut Lady Admiral softball player Stephanie Harris, a University of Virginia freshman, has been selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference second team. Harris, who has started every game this season at either first base or third base, leads the Cavs' offense with a .322 average and a team-best 28 RBI. In ACC regular season games, she hit a team-best .347 during the regular season.
