Spartans claim East-Middle Region title

Riding the right arms of Massachusetts Institute of Technology signee K.J. Parent and Tennessee Vols signee Parker Wormsley, in addition to the bat of Wormsley, Webb School of Knoxville swept the Division II-A East-Middle Region Baseball Tournament field.

The Spartans (27-6) went 4-0 in the tournament and captured the region title, ending with a 6-5 victory against Ezell-Harding Thursday, May 12, at Webb's Morris Field.

Starting pitcher Frank Potts grabbed the win, improving his record to 5-2. Wormsley relieved with one out in the bottom of the seventh, earning a save by retiring the final two Ezell-Harding hitters.
