• KERN, Janice Faye,
age 71, passed away in her Lenoir City, home May 19, 2011. She was born Dec. 19, 1939, in Sterling, Ill. She was a graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. Her professional career was in a corporate library. Her major hobbies were genealogy, gardening and reading. She was a bright and cheerful woman with an engaging smile and keen wit, loved and admired by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Garrett Doden and Marjorie Spaulding Doden in Chadwick, Ill. She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Jim Kern; sister, Eunice Zumdahl; cousins, Neal Doden, Don Spaulding, Larry Spaulding, Gary Spaulding and Virginia Hubbard; two nieces; a nephew; a sister-in-law, Catherine Lawson; nine great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at the home. Memorial donations may be made to: Arthritis Foundation, the American Cancer Society or to Covenant Home Care Hospice. • NILES, Jack Kenneth,
age 84, of Lenoir City, formerly of Knoxville passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. Jack was a member of Marble City Baptist Church in Knoxville and attended Beals Chapel Baptist for the past 15 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack retired from Southern Cast Stone with more than 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by parents, William H. and Essie Niles; son, Dr. Jack Niles Jr.; brothers, Ed Niles and Huffman Niles. Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ivonal “Boots” Niles; daughter, Jennifer (Stan) Starr; daughter-in-law, Judy Niles; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Theresa) Niles; sisters, Sue Austin and June (Bill) Cagle; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services was Tuesday in Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. Graveside service was Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
