Bill’s Outpost to open this week

Bill’s Outpost owner Bill Russell has plans to open his new Farragut store near Sam & Andy’s on Friday, June 10.

The store sells firearms and ammunition, as well as firearm accessories, at discounted prices.

“It’ll be self defense products — pepper sprays and things — in addition to firearms,” Russell said.

“And anything related to shooting sports: targets, cleaning supplies. And we’ll have a very good selection of holsters. [With] our holsters, I’m guesssing we’ll have the best selection of holsters of anywhere in West Knoxville,” he added.

Bill’s Outpost also has a location in Alcoa, which opened in 2009 and sells firearms and ammunition, self-protection equipment, outdoor survival gear and fishing tackle.

Russell said he’d wanted to open another store to better cater to his Knoxville-area customers.

“We wanted the location to be far enough away to not encroach on the Alcoa store. We thought Farragut would be the perfect location,” Russell said.

And the store’s low prices attract customers, he added.

“We expect to have the lowest prices around on firearms, especially on any name brands, Rugers, Glocks, Springfields.

“One reason we’re successful in Alcoa, I feel like, is because of our low prices. We don’t make a huge profit every time we sell something, but if we can get the repeat customer coming back, we feel like it’s worth it to make a smaller margin per sale but keep our customers coming back to us,” Russell said.

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Bill’s Outpost is closed Sundays.
