EDC topics create stir

Farragut’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen didn’t have much to say about money budgeted for economic development this year, including “professional services” with Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce and Farragut Business Alliance during its meeting Thursday, June 9.

That’s despite the controversy the topic stirred among members of Farragut’s Economic Development Committee the day before.

“Both of their requests have been implemented in this line item,” Town Administrator David Smoak told the Board of the Chamber’s and FBA’s grant requests.

The Chamber is set to receive $15,000 and FBA is set to receive $44,000, including $7,000 already existing in the budget for “Shop Farragut,” which will become an FBA responsibility.
