Banner effort
Despite‘softball swing,’ Banner’s putting beats Brodd for KAWGA title

With a golf swing that's “definitely self-made, it's a softball swing,” Farragut-area resident Robin Banner took down a polished Southeastern Conference golfer from Farragut and won Knox Area Womens Golf Association 2011 Flight One (Championship Flight) crown.

“You would not put me anywhere on TV and tell people to swing like me,” joked Banner, a two-time national Executive Women's Golf Association champion who beat two-time KAWGA champ Jillian Brodd 3-and-2 Thursday, June 9, at Holston Hills Country Club.

“I've been able to keep it in the fairway; as I say, 'If I can find it I can hit it,'” added Banner, 40, a former Carson-Newman College catcher who's only been playing golf 15 years.
