TVA lake app already a hit

In less than one week, Tennessee Valley Authority’s application for smart phones — providing real-time portable information about TVA’s 49 lakes — had received roughly 2,500 hits from lake enthusiasts.

That’s according to TVA spokesman Travis Brickey about the app (available in the iTunes app store) — initially made available to iPhone users Tuesday, June 14, and available for free at the iPhone App Store — which offers TVA reservoir information from anywhere using Wi-Fi or the user’s cellular network.

That information (photo, left) includes lake elevations, water release schedules, yearly operating guides, navigation lock information and Google-based maps.

“We’ve gotten really good comments ... One guys says, ‘It’s very easy to use. Perfect for fishermen who rely on generation schedules,’” Brickey said. “Another one says, ‘Finally. Thanks for this app, TVA.’”
