Paint, patch, maintain: LCUB lays out spending plan

Lenoir City Utilities Board approved a change work order for its sewer plant construction project, which would increase LCUB’s cost to $418,169.94.

That change in price reflects LCUB’s decision to exhaust the rest of an AARA/SRF grant, which gives LCUB a 60/40 split on total cost of the project, with LCUB paying the 40 percent.

“That money is available, and if it’s not used, it will have to be turned in,” LCUB general manager Shannon Littleton said.

The extra money will be used to paint, patch and maintain existing equipment and structures that have rust holes, Littleton said. The maintenance was needed, and if LCUB didn’t use the SRF funding, money would have to be borrowed elsewhere, he added.
