Local teacher recognized

For 11 consecutive years, a local teacher has received recognition for outstanding performance in reading education by Renaissance Learning.

Amy Rainwater, a first-grade teacher at Concord Christian School in Farragut, was awarded Reading Renaissanceís Model Classroom Recertification by the Madison, Wis., - based company. Model Classroom certification indicates that Rainwaterís efforts to adopt Reading Renaissance methods have continued to result in measurable increases in studentís reading performance.

ďAmyís continuing commitment to reading and reading practice translate into success for every child,Ē said Judi Paul, co-chairman of the board of Renaissance Learning.

To receive Model Classroom certification, a teacher must demonstrate their students have daily reading practice time. In addition, teachers must be actively working with individual students to meet reading achievement goals.
